Normally when I have a show coming up I post the details and add an enthusiastic sentence fragment with a bunch of exclamation points. But this one’s different. I hope you’ll permit me to go lengthy and personal on you.

What had happened? Three of the strangest and most beautiful days of my life. A series of experiences I’ll be fondly and disbelievingly revisiting for years to come. A new friendship that has the potential to be lifelong.

Still, I couldn’t shake the nagging feeling of a loose end.

When I got back to my bike on September 18, I didn’t know what to expect. Physically, I was a bit out of shape, but that didn’t worry me. The riding always gets you in shape. It was the mental space I wasn’t sure I was prepared for.
