In the past month and a half, I rode my bike from Amherst to Montreal with my brother; I went to Walla Walla and Ellensburg for a weekend mini-tour with the Walking Hat Trio; I had an impromptu 5-year reunion jam/performance with my college band Humans Being; I saw The Bad Plus in concert at The Triple Door; I bought a new blender... just to name a few things. Life these days is alive and sizzling with music, beauty, and flavor. Signs and coincidences abound. Everywhere are lessons and discoveries and deep interaction with fellow-beings. I've been feeling this keenly lately and I have a sense that it's a lot bigger than me—is stuff lining up in strange and instructive ways in your world, too?
I've got a couple shows coming up that I hope you'll consider attending. Both feature projects that are near to my heart. Here's the info:
1) Friday, November 17th - Demonym Jacket @ Revolution Wine
8:00 to 10:00 pm - 518 E Pike Street - No Cover
Ilona and I are psyched to play our third show together as Demonym Jacket. We'll be performing songs from our recent album, a few new originals, and some new and familiar covers. Meanwhile, you'll sip an Argentine Malbec with notes of plum and clove.
2) Tuesday, November 28th - The Walking Hat Trio and 322 @ The Royal Room
6:30 to 10:00 pm - 5000 Rainier Avenue S - By Donation
After our mini-tour, The WHT is sounding tighter than ever, and having more fun too. We have new music to share with you, including original stuff and a cover of a song by The Shins. What better place to accomplish this task than one of Seattle's finest jazz venues? We're thrilled to be back at the Royal Room. Opening up for us is 322, a very talented group out of Tacoma. Check out their KNKX studio session!
OK, that's it for now—though it's certainly not everything that I have coming up. If you're interested in what else I have going on, check out my gig calendar!
You'll be hearing from me again soon... there's plenty a-brewin'. Meantime, enjoy this chilly autumn weather and all its attendant soups and stews.
